Taking a quick look around Shawn nods in approval. Yeah, this is definitely it. The place where Randy's gonna get his well-deserved celebration big time. Renting the karaoke bar had proved even easier than he had imagined: Just some observations about certain employees and dirty deals, neatly packed into a breathtaking vision and the owner was even more than willing to make the place available. Acknowledgment of gratitude, which, of course, Shawn couldn't decline. That would have been totally rude.

The SIX DEGREES karaoke bar is a big place that somehow managed to stay comfy nevertheless. There are round tables near the bar as well as lounges in the corners. The bar itself is more of the modern kind but without looking too freaky to keep looking at it after five beers. The stage is actually perfect. Shawn checked it out, everybody should be able to see it.

It's all there, everything is ready so he hums a happy little tune as he waits for Randy and the guys to show up for the soundcheck. Not that he particularly cares if someone else decides to drop by early. If nobody shows up at all it doesn't really matter as well. Because it would only take him one call and approximately ten minutes to turn the event into something even more official than it already is and find enough random people on the street.

Yeah. No matter what, this is going to be awesome.

"That's what I wanted to hear!"

And with that Shawn enters the stage and within seconds manages to catch everyone's attention. "... and you should have brought your boyfriend. Everybody else might be too drawn into the music to effectively flirt with you. Sir, yes, you there in the back, you... ow, it's... itching... you might consider getting that cat out of your house fast..." Shawn indulges in attention for a moment, packing the evening's and the band's introduction into a weird mixture of some 'psychic' games, stand-up comedy and lots of fast and much talking (in a short amount of time, of course. This was still a rock concert.)

Then he pauses self-confidently walking up and down the stage, spotlight on his track. "But I guess you don't need a psychic to figure out why you're all here and what I am going to announce now: The band is ready for you! Get ready for the hottest musician making some noise for the sake of your apparently not enough challenged eardrums, the man you voted for and now get to see live on stage, right here, in Santa Barbara, at the SIX DEGREES! Clear the stage for, or rather, I'm going to clear the stage for Randy!!"

Wow. That was a bigger introduction than Randy was expecting.

But he's a completely different person when he's on stage. He's the quiet one, yes, but his self-confidence comes to the fore when he's got a guitar in his hands and a microphone attached to his head. (Some people say the microphone headsets look stupid, but he'd rather keep both hands on his guitar than attempt to take a microphone with him everywhere he goes, being that he is the lead singer, after all.) He strides out onto the stage along with his cousin and his friend, and they decide, forget the pretense, they're just going to launch right into it.

And the bar is alive with the sound of "Satellites."**

He wrote the words, he wrote the music, he's played it a thousand times, but it never gets old.

(**In the interest of due credit, I should point out that this is a song actually performed by Hal Sparks and his band, Zero 1. There is a much more awesome version on their self-titled debut album, which is on iTunes and everyone should go check it out.)

Shawn is impressed. Even more, for a moment he's stunned because whoa, damn it, Randy's is good. Of course Shawn knew he was good and after all he did win an award, but this is totally amazing!

So there is only one thing left to do. Rock along with the audience and fangirl Randy.

(ooc: Love it!)

Randy is entirely in his element. He has a natural talent for music, and he knows it. But he chose helping people over making albums, and he's okay with that. As long as he gets moments like this.

He's pleased that it seems to be going over well. So far, so good. He makes a note to thank Shawn later.

Much later. Because he's not stopping anytime soon.

(OOC: They are an awesome band. I adore them. My neighbors, however, are probably deaf now...)
