Taking a quick look around Shawn nods in approval. Yeah, this is definitely it. The place where Randy's gonna get his well-deserved celebration big time. Renting the karaoke bar had proved even easier than he had imagined: Just some observations about certain employees and dirty deals, neatly packed into a breathtaking vision and the owner was even more than willing to make the place available. Acknowledgment of gratitude, which, of course, Shawn couldn't decline. That would have been totally rude.
The SIX DEGREES karaoke bar is a big place that somehow managed to stay comfy nevertheless. There are round tables near the bar as well as lounges in the corners. The bar itself is more of the modern kind but without looking too freaky to keep looking at it after five beers. The stage is actually perfect. Shawn checked it out, everybody should be able to see it.
It's all there, everything is ready so he hums a happy little tune as he waits for Randy and the guys to show up for the soundcheck. Not that he particularly cares if someone else decides to drop by early. If nobody shows up at all it doesn't really matter as well. Because it would only take him one call and approximately ten minutes to turn the event into something even more official than it already is and find enough random people on the street.
Yeah. No matter what, this is going to be awesome.

Date: 2007-10-26 05:09 am (UTC)As usual, the architect who has a million bucks looks like a million. Jeans, a dress shirt and a suit jacket, dress casual but he's comfortable. Deanna is sitting next to him and he finds it hard to take his eyes off her, but forces himself to do it so he doesn't faint. She's beautiful, with her short dark hair and her easy smile, and he's easily distracted.
He wants to set things right with her and give a relationship a real try. And he wants to support his best friend. And if that means borrowing his car and driving all the way up to Santa Barbara, so be it. He doesn't know anybody else, but who cares? It's a party!

As for the paper bag thingy - I can feel that Randy needs and deserves this. The spirits nod in agreement. There's a lot of nodding going on right now. And don't worry, I've been working as a lifeguard once, I'll look out for him."

"Shawn, this is Deanna Vincent. She's a friend of mine and Randy's." He's not inclined to say 'girlfriend,' because they've only been on two dates, months ago, but 'friend' seems good enough.
Deanna, being a waitress, knows how to handle people. She just smiles and nods. "Hi," she says, obviously glad to not be the one doing all the serving for once.

Date: 2007-10-26 11:44 am (UTC)Shawn takes a look around for the waiters. "Since you are Randy's friends I officially declare you to VIP guests. If I find some straws I'll make you VIP bands. I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, want something to drink? First one's on the house. Since you are now VIP."

Date: 2007-10-26 05:52 pm (UTC)He looks over at his not-really-sort-of-possibly-girlfriend (he has no idea what to call her now, even though he's known her for years) to see what she wants. There are things he's' still learning. They've only been on two dates and the second was interrupted by the fact that he ran over a car with a JCB.
"Glass of water would be great, thanks," she says easily, with a small smile. She can sense he's trying. Maybe too hard, but he's trying.
Satisfied, Brendan nods and turns back to Shawn. "You want me to go see if he's done having a panic attack?" he quips, meaning Randy.

Date: 2007-10-26 06:44 pm (UTC)"Oh yeah!" Turning back to Brendan and Deanna, the grin slips neatly back into place. "Sounds like a great idea. Oh, and he said something about a bottle of water earlier, maybe you can bring it?"

Date: 2007-10-26 06:47 pm (UTC)"On it, mate."
With a nod at Deanna, who has been around him long enough to understand these things, Brendan swipes a bottle of water from the bar and manuevers his way to go find his friend. He knows that Randy will be fine. He just needs time and space.
Randy's too good a guy to be kept down for too long.
