After the Awards (for [livejournal.com profile] bigkitty75)

Shawn giggles when the door snaps shot. But it's alright to giggle because he giggles with offense! Which sounds pretty much like giggling anyway.

He spins his award, turning on his heels and waving it at Gus while walking the hallway backwards to face his friend. "Most clueless! I cannot believe these people! I mean, I mean look at me! Do I look like a clueless person to you? I am not a clueless person. I got it all figured out! The world, the cases, I mean, if I had been there Twin Peaks wouldn't have even lasted one single episode!"

He bumps against a doorframe and ow!s for a moment, shaking his head. "We gotta keep this out of sight. I mean, not out of sight, because clearly owning a golden donkey is just what our office chi needs. Trust me. What I mean is out of sight from dad. Oh my God, can you believe what it'd be like? Him seeing this? He'd hang around the office all day, trying to, oh my gosh, do you think he'd get the nasty idea of tutoring us?" He points at his prize. "This thing? Has to go. But at the same time hasn't."

Shawn frowns, clearly thinking before his eyes widen and he raises a finger, his face lighting up with an idea. "Dude, I got it! Go get some gaffer tape. We'll just hide what it's for, like, stick it over the 'most clueless' so it does nothing but looking shiny in the office's shelf!"

Gus shares a laugh, and he grins. Who wouldn't like being called the best?

"I'll be easy on you an pick dare." Gus stretches out and smiles. "What's it going to be this time? There's only so many things you can think of for general service."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Another dare... you're channeling my creative side, aren't you." Shawn grins and sits up.

"Alright, let's see... how about you let me sleep in your bed tonight. Because the couch really sucks."

Not that he stays on the couch anyway. But whatever.

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Is this you calling it a night then?" Gus inquires. He also wonders if this means he's stuck on the couch? Which would be the logical conclusion, execpt that his back will complain something aweful in the morning.

Well, he'll deal with that as it comes. "Sure, you're welcome to it."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Calling it a night! Gus, I would never." Shawn shakes his head. "I can manage one more. Dare."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"One last thing? I dare you to let me pick the next case."

Gus rolls over and sits up. Funny he's not sure that's he's ever spent an evening just sitting around the living room in his boxers. You live and learn. "But it seems to me that we both picked some time will tell dares. How about we settle the game. One secret each?"

Gus smiles brightly. "I've always wanted to learn how to ride your motorcycle. Even though I make faces when you take off on it. It looks like fun."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Shawn laughs. "I'd totally teach you but I know it's the one thing your parents would seriously murder me for. Not only that but they would team up with dad and then it's epic fail for my life." He thinks for a moment. "Hey, but what if we make a trip? Like, you sit in the back and we cruise California. Or something. For a day. Or the weekend. Think about it."

While he waits for Gus' answer he thinks about some secret he could tell his friend.

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Gus thinks, he pouts. "Sure you won't risk it? You live for danger, don't you?"

He reluctantly gets to his feet. "Well I guess if that's all you're going to offer, I'll take it." And maybe convince you to teach me on the weekend trip.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Shawn rolls his eyes. "Please, that's not danger, that's rightous suicide. And I love life, I really do."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, okay, I suppose I could always take lessons from someone else." Gus smirks. It actually kind of amuses him to think that his parents hold some kind of sway over Shawn. Well, he supposed the reverse is also very true, Henry has his own kind of sway as well.

Gus takes a step toward the bedroom, and then stops and waits. They're still one secret short.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Shawn thinks for a moment. A secret, a good one... what's a good one?

The alcohol makes him dizzy. "Random, fun or dark secret?"

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus shrugs. "Any kind of secret you want."

It's not like his desire to ride a motorcycle is some great big dangerous deal... well, execpt if his parents ever found out... but aside from that.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmm..." Shawn frowns in concentration because nothing will come to his mind right now, nothing that isn't totally ridiculous or utterly beyond telling no matter HOW much he drank. "I once hosted a poker game in Vegas."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus raises an eyebrow. "Something special about that game that makes it secret worthy?"

He takes another step backward towards his bedroom. Not trying to end their conversation on purpose, just to move it to the place where pillows and blankets are available.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." Shawn nods, following behind. "The participants were all mafia guys."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus stops, his eyes wide, no longer sleepy and feeling the need to yawn. But his mouth parts anyway. He glances to the right and left, knowing it's stupid to suddenly start suspecting the shadows in the corners of his very own apartment. But...

"Mafia?" And he doesn't think Shawn is kidding either, because they were playing truth, and Shawn may have a lot of fun bending, twist, disguising the truth, but in his own way he plays fairly.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Shawn nods and does the yawning for him, walking past him. "Was asked if I could host games while I worked as a greeter at the casino. I think they liked my style. Or my hair. Whatever. Didn't know what they were until the actual game."

He shrugs. "But well, I hosted and that was it. Don't think they even knew my name."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus shivers and it has very little to do with actually being shirtless.

Just the though of his best friend, in a room, surrounded by cold blooded killers. He reaches out to touch Shawn's shoulder, silly, but needing some kind of reasurance that Shawn was okay, even though this happened long ago.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Shawn blinks at the sudden movement and again at the touch. He looks at Gus for a moment and then laughs, mirroring the action and bumping his fist against his friend in an amicable way.

"Don't give me that look."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Gus frowns. "What look?" But he withdraws his hand and let's the feeling of being terrified for Shawn pass. There's nothing he can do now, there's probably nothing he could've done then.

It's not like they didn't fight over just that kind of thing way back then anyway. Shawn is never going to let somebody else tell him how to live his life, and Gus, aside from complaining and refusing to join him in certain idiotic antics, is never again going to try and suggest that Shawn should listen to someone. Well, he might say it, but he won't really mean it.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"That look."

Shawn throws an arm around Gus's shoulder and leads him to the bed. "You sleep better when your face isn't covered in wrinkles."

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-02-03 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus allows himself to be lead. "My face isn't going to be covered in wrinkles." He frowns, and then catches himself in it. Gus sighs and tries to clear his expression.

"So, how do you want to do this? Left side or right?" He thought he'd have enough energy to trudge back to the couch for the night, but now that he's here, Gus knows that's all just wishful thinking.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Mhh..." Shawn yawns a melody that says something like idontcare, then says "Left!" and slumps down onto the mattress. "Dude, what a day!"

[identity profile] bigkitty75.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus agrees with a noise and sinks into bed on the empty side. It's a weird feeling, actually sleeping with someone else in the same bed as him. Gus shifts a bit and ends up facing Shawn, he closes his eyes. But he can feel his best friend still there, just the same.

It sorta reminds Gus of sleepovers when the were little. Shawn still breaths the same as he did way back then, a slightly irratic not-quite-snore that used to drive him crazy, but now sounds just... familiar.

Gus only hopes that Shawn has stopped kicking in his sleep.

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Shawn looks over at Gus one last time, smiling lazily. "G'night, buddy."
