SIX DEGREES KARAOKE (Tammy Award Party for [livejournal.com profile] wolfwithaguitar)

Taking a quick look around Shawn nods in approval. Yeah, this is definitely it. The place where Randy's gonna get his well-deserved celebration big time. Renting the karaoke bar had proved even easier than he had imagined: Just some observations about certain employees and dirty deals, neatly packed into a breathtaking vision and the owner was even more than willing to make the place available. Acknowledgment of gratitude, which, of course, Shawn couldn't decline. That would have been totally rude.

The SIX DEGREES karaoke bar is a big place that somehow managed to stay comfy nevertheless. There are round tables near the bar as well as lounges in the corners. The bar itself is more of the modern kind but without looking too freaky to keep looking at it after five beers. The stage is actually perfect. Shawn checked it out, everybody should be able to see it.

It's all there, everything is ready so he hums a happy little tune as he waits for Randy and the guys to show up for the soundcheck. Not that he particularly cares if someone else decides to drop by early. If nobody shows up at all it doesn't really matter as well. Because it would only take him one call and approximately ten minutes to turn the event into something even more official than it already is and find enough random people on the street.

Yeah. No matter what, this is going to be awesome.

Determined to talk to as many people as possible Shawn stops when he sees the new face at the bar and waves. "Welcome! Great you could make it!"

Grinning, he takes her hand and shakes it eagerly. "I'm Shawn Spencer, your source of information and fan merchandising. Not the owner of this bar, though, because I guess I'd be far more concerned about the audience running wild and destroying the interior as soon as the concert starts but since I'm only the host it should be okay as long as everybody is having fun."

She grinned, shaking his hand back. "I'm Anna. Nice to meet you." She looked around a bit, before turning back to him. "Nice choice in the place, too. I don't really do karaoke bar, but this is nice."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is totally nice to meet you too, Anna." Shawn beams at her. "I'm glad to hear you're having a good time. Are you from California? And what's even more important, did you get your first 'on the house' drink already?"
hitchhiking: (anna cute)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-26 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just getting ready to order a beer," she said with a nod. "And I'm not really from California. I actually kind of move around a lot. But I've been out there before."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"You do?" Shawn waves at a waiter and makes sure Anna's beer is on the way. "I've been travelling around a lot, too. Where else have you been?"
hitchhiking: (anna *shrug*)

"I've made a lot of small town stops across the Midwest--Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, those kinds of places," she replied with a nod. "Right now I've been hanging out in New York for a bit."

Her beer arrived and she took a long sip before turning back to him. "How bout you? Where have you been hanging out?"

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Shawn thinks for a moment. "Oh... well, I guess, I've been pretty much to every state at least once. Oh, and then there was Costa Rica, Thailand... been a while since I've been to New York, though! How is it these days?"
hitchhiking: (anna smirk)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pretty grumpy, considering New Yorkers and their baseball," Anna nodded. "The Sox are in the series, and both the Yanks and the Mets got kicked out early." She smirked slightly. "I think everyone is rallying behind the Rockies and hope they kick the Sox's ass."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ohh sounds like tons of good fun," Shawn laughs. "I used to be a concessions vendor in different cities whenever there was a big game. Only held the jobs for a couple of days, was able to see the whole thing and get paid for it."
hitchhiking: (anna laughing)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-26 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"See, that's a nice job," she grinned. "I usually wind up waiting tables or pulling odd jobs to get by while I'm in one place for a while. Once I start moving though, I usually have to watch my cash flow."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah, I know exactly what that's like. But that's adventure, isn't it?" Shawn's eyes start to glow with excitement. He barely ever met anyone with the same enthusiasm and feeling for the freedom of a 'road trip life' and he starts to really enjoy the conversation.

"Had a lot of different jobs while being on the road. I'm on my fifty-eight one right now. How about you? What's your... recipe of getting around?"
hitchhiking: (anna pretty)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-26 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't drive, so--that makes me pretty limited on the 'getting around' front--not that I could afford a car if I did," she began, wrinkling her nose a bit as she thought. "So I usually do public transportation, or hitchhiking, when necessary. And then I'll usually stop off in places where I've been once or twice, make some money, and head out again until I start running low."

She took another sip of her beer and gave him a wide smile. "It's not the easiest life in the world, but I really enjoy it."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah..." Shawn nods in agreement and signales to the bartender to give him a beer as well. "I don't have a car as well. I do have a motorcycle though. At the moment I'm here in Santa Barbara but maybe I'll hit the road again anytime soon."

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-26 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Motorcycle's better than what I got," she commented before taking another sip of her beer. "What make is it?"

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-26 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Norton Commando 850," Shawn answers and takes a sip of his beer as well. "Didn't use it for travelling, though. Not enough room for all your stuff."
hitchhiking: (anna flirt)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-26 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"A Norton? Nice," she said, her eyes perking up with interest. "What year?"

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-27 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"A black 1976 Interstate (http://www.bikez.com/pictures/norton/1976/10516_0_1_2_commando%20850%20interstate%20mk%203_Submitted%20by%20anonymous%20user..jpg)," Shawn replies, delighted by the interest. "My dad calls it the 'deathcycle'." He rolls his eyes. "Can you believe it? No respect for a fine machine."
hitchhiking: (anna smirk)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-27 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Seventy-six was a good year for cars and bikes," she nodded. "They don't make 'em like they used to anymore."

"Well--they kind of are," she smirked, before taking another pull on her beer. "But that's part of the fun, ya know? Part of the thrill."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-27 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exactly." Shawn nods eagerly. "Hey, if you ever need a roadtrip in the Californian area, give me a call, alright?"
hitchhiking: (anna smile)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-27 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will," she said with a grin. "Definitely."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Awesome!" Shawn downs the rest of his beer, watching her curiously. "So what made you start travelling? What drew you to the life on the road?" he inquires, feeling drawn to the alikness between his life and Anna's.
hitchhiking: (anna *shrug*)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-31 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The question caught her off guard at first. She had never really considered what made her start, only why she was still doing it. She thought about it for a minute before shrugging.

"I have a lot of friends -- older friends -- who travel a lot, and they took me with them sometimes. I guess I just -- really grew to like it, ya know?"

She shrugged, picking at the label on her bottle. "I guess it was just something that made sense at the time. No real rhyme or reason to it."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not getting intrusive here, am I?" Shawn waves at the bartender for another bottle. "Maybe I'm getting a little overly excited here. It's just that people keep telling me to grow up and get a real job, you know, that kind of stuff... it's really awesome to find someone who takes a freer look at the world as well."
hitchhiking: (anna cute)

[personal profile] hitchhiking 2007-10-31 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Anna shook her head quickly, "Oh, no -- not at all. I've just -- never had anyone ask me why before. I needed to think about it."

She turned to him, crossing her legs as she rested her elbow on the bar. "You know, it's not that I don't want the money -- hell, I'd love to be making what a teacher makes in a year. I just -- I don't like constraints, ya know? I had too many placed on me while I was growing up, it's nice just to -- be able to let go and be somewhere else for a while. I can understand working nine-to-five when you have a family to support, but -- it's just me. I don't have anyone else to worry about -- so I'm gonna enjoy the time I have."

[identity profile] head-psychic.livejournal.com 2007-10-31 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, that last part sounds familiar. To me the most important thing is having fun. Because living your life without any fun in it, that's just... I can't imagine what that would be like. I don't know how people stand it." Shawn shakes his head. "I think I'd die. From depressions. Or something."
